The Breuer building, designed by architect Marcel Breuer, was a home for the Whitney Museum of American Art for almost 50 years before they moved to the Meatpacking District.
After a brief stint as the Met Breuer, which closed due to the pandemic, the building served as the temporary home for the Frick collection until March 2024.
In 2023, the Breuer was sold to Sotheby's for $100 million, marking a significant shift in its future use and purpose.
