Last Thursday evening, the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) kicked off the 57th New York Carnival Week with an impressive launch at the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
Themed 'The Evolution,' the launch event featured dynamic performances from both senior and junior masquerade bands, dance groups, and cultural presentations, showcasing the vibrancy of Caribbean culture.
Among local elected officials showing support were City Council Members Crystal Hudson and Rita Joseph, who actively engaged the crowd with enthusiastic speeches, highlighting their pride in the Caribbean celebration.
The festivities officially kick off on August 29 with events running through Labor Day weekend, with significant performances scheduled at the Brooklyn Museum Grounds showcasing popular Caribbean artists.
