The Hotel Chelsea has welcomed a fresh dining experience in its cellar with the opening of Teruko, a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar. Founded by Serena Bass over 20 years ago, the original clubhouse atmosphere has been reimagined. Teruko reflects the hotel's artistic past, drawing inspiration from Japanese artist Teruko Yokoi, a former resident. Co-owner Sean MacPherson aimed to create a blend of East and West in the restaurant's design, emphasizing materials that evoke a wabi-sabi aesthetic, contrasting with Yokoi's vibrant paintings displayed within.
