Goats are back in Riverside Park-and they're ready to compete
Briefly

The Riverside Park Conservancy is hosting the first-ever goat eating contest, The Great Goat Graze-Off, featuring five goats competing to eat invasive plants. Set for July 12, the event will be hosted by George Shea and promises brass band fanfare, photo opportunities, and a highlight of the goats' eco-friendly work in the park. Known for their effectiveness in landscaping and transforming difficult areas into green spaces, these goats represent a unique blend of environmental stewardship and community entertainment.
This year's roster of ruminant athletes includes returning favorites like Romeo (a total snugglebug) and Mallomar (quiet but mighty) as well as flashy newcomer Butterball.
Why goats? These four-legged landscapers are crucial. They excel at chewing down hard-to-reach invasive species, enhancing the park's ecology while providing entertainment.
