The former Lord & Taylor department store is set to reopen as Shaver Hall, a large food hall on Fifth Avenue. Managed by The Food Hall Co., it will feature two major restaurants, including Tallow Steakhouse, and 11 curated food stalls with various culinary offerings. As food halls face closures, Shaver Hall aims to rejuvenate the space and attract visitors with a unique dining experience. Designed to foster community engagement, it marks a significant shift in the building's use since it closed in 2019, signaling a new beginning for this landmark location.
Shaver Hall, named for legendary Lord & Taylor president Dorothy Shaver, will hold forth on one of Manhattan's most visible, but long-dark, ground-floor blockfronts.
Food Hall Co. says it's dedicated to 'creating disruptive entertainment and dining concepts at the heartbeat of their local communities.'
The culinary complex includes two full-scale restaurants, one of them a 'destination' spot named Tallow Steakhouse, along with 11 curated food stalls.
Shaver Hall is intentionally different and aims to bring public life back to a landmark building that's been dark since 2019.
