On February 18, a rat on a Manhattan-bound F train captivated riders by performing a pole dance, climbing up and down with remarkable skill. Eyewitness Amanda Maillard described how passengers initially tried to avoid the rodent, but it confidently displayed its moves, even attempting to solicit tips. The performance caught the attention of pole champion Donna Carnow, who admired the rat's grip strength. However, experts suggested that the rat's behavior was more about escaping the crowd than putting on a show, highlighting the unique dynamics of urban wildlife.
People were "moving out of the way, just trying to get away from it really, and then...this diva decided to climb the pole," Maillard stated.
The bold critter then dismounted and tried to get a 'tip' from one gawker carrying a suitcase, only to bolt in the opposite direction.
They were starting to get into some interesting positions, getting parallel with the floor," praised US National Pole champ Donna Carnow.
The animal, which Parsons suggested was a juvenile looking for grub, likely hit the pole to escape the commuting masses.
