Moore's new place, Cafe Commerce, opens today - a 55-seat bistro with a smaller kitchen and dining room than his downtown original, which closed due to a legal technicality.
Moore quips, 'To be honest, I'm not the best employee. I don't feel the same satisfaction in my work when it's for someone else.'
He originally turned down the Uptown location but reconsidered in 2023, noting the Upper East Side is a different animal, less dense and more neighborhood-focused.
Cafe Commerce promises to cycle in daily specials like a Tuesday seafood 'Feast of Shells' and a Thursday rack of lamb with figs and pistachios.
