Dykes Who Hike is for "queer wlw girlies, trans and non-binary folk"; it started as a joke but evolved into a vital community for LGBTQ+ individuals.
"Me and Lucy met at a queer basketball team and it's obviously for the same demographic as us - LGBTQ+ women, trans and non-binary people - those are the kind of people we wanted to do our walks with," Yas stated, highlighting their community focus.
The initial response to Dykes Who Hike was "amazing". Lucy recalled being nervous before the first hike but was welcomed by 60 lesbians eager to participate.
Lucy remarked, "I think that's mainly because people just want a sense of community. Maybe part of it is the lack of alcohol-based events that are often planned for LGBTQ+ individuals."
