UPDATE: Diocese Celebrates Ash Wednesday and Start of Lenten Pilgrimage - The Tablet
Briefly

On Ash Wednesday, Gervin Charles attended mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. James, expressing his enthusiasm for the start of Lent. Bishop Robert Brennan emphasized the importance of repentance and the opportunity for renewal during this season. The Diocese of Brooklyn has organized a Lenten pilgrimage involving 37 churches, allowing the faithful to explore different congregations. Amidst this year's Jubilee Year celebration, church-goers like Margaret Ames are finding renewed faith and returning to their spiritual roots as they embark on their Lenten journeys.
Today's Ash Wednesday, and I feel like it's just ... a great way to start off Lent," said Charles, a student at the New York City College of Technology, adding that he looks forward to the Lenten season.
We begin the season of repentance and conversion. First is good news that there is room and opportunity for conversion in the light of God's love," he said. "God gives us the ability to turn once again to him. This is a chance for us to deepen our relationship with the Lord.
This year, there are 37 churches along the pilgrimage route, with the excitement heightened by the Catholic Church's Jubilee Year.
