The Staten Island Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has scheduled its 2025 May Week events under the theme 'One Step at a Time: Building Health, Economic Empowerment & Ensuring Safety.' This initiative not only highlights the achievements of communities of color, especially Black women, but also showcases collaboration with local organizations. Events include a community fair and a cultural pop-up shop featuring Black-owned businesses, culminating in a Town Hall to address local legislative issues like housing and food insecurity.
“We are so excited this year to collaborate with so many community-based organizations on these important events,” said Robin Cannon, President of the Staten Island Alumnae Chapter. “It truly embodies our commitment to service, education, and empowerment by offering resources and opportunities that enrich the lives of those in our community.”
The initiative serves as a platform to showcase the academic, professional and cultural achievements of communities of color, with a particular focus on uplifting and honoring Black women.
