
The LGBT Bar NY Annual Gala on May 12, 2026 was held at City Winery on Pier 57 in Manhattan. The event celebrated progress and honored legal professionals and community members committed to justice, equality, and advancement of LGBTQ+ people. Honorees included Susan L. Bender, recognized for matrimonial law leadership and community impact, and Cynthia S. Kern, honored for advocacy and championing diversity. Miss Peppermint received a Community Vision Award for community activism and for making history as the first out trans woman to originate a lead role on Broadway in Head Over Heels. The LGBT Bar NY Foundation has provided a safe harbor for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers for over 35 years, regardless of legal issue.
