"Mr. Heuermann's wife, Asa Ellerup, who has since divorced him, tells her lawyer in the Peacock documentary that as Mr. Heuermann prepared to speak to her about the murders, he looked very nervous, very, very nervous."
"He said eight. He said I wasn't home during all of them, says Ms. Ellerup, who was away with their children on vacation when the crimes occurred."
"He said yes, they were killed in his room downstairs, all except one, Ms. Ellerup says. Most of the women's remains were found at or near Gilgo Beach."
"A few months later, Peacock made a deal to pay his family to participate in a documentary series through the end of Mr. Heuermann's trial, outraging some of the victims' families."
Rex Heuermann, a Long Island serial killer, confessed to his ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, that he killed eight women, seven in their home. Ellerup recounted his nervous demeanor during the confession. Most victims' remains were found near Gilgo Beach. Heuermann was arrested in July 2023, and Ellerup filed for divorce shortly after. A documentary series featuring the family was produced, causing outrage among victims' families. Heuermann pleaded guilty to all murder charges on April 8, eliminating the need for a trial.
