Although the clinic will require two years for reconstruction, Abdallah emphasizes that the focus is on the lives saved, especially in assisting the LGBTQ+ community. The attack, labeled as domestic terrorism by the FBI, resulted in injuries and one fatality, but the clinic’s retrieval efforts successfully safeguarded the frozen embryos and eggs, showcasing the clinic's commitment to family building after trauma.
"My return on the investment is babies," said Abdallah, whose clinic claims to have helped more than 2,000 couples grow their families, many of them in the region's LGBTQ+ community. "Life is preserved, and that's really all I care about."
In what Abdallah described as a series of miracles, nobody was in the clinic last Saturday morning and its in vitro fertilization lab remained intact despite the mighty force of the explosion.
