Chris Kluwe, a former NFL player and advocate, continues to stand firm in his fight for LGBTQ+ rights after his arrest for protesting at a city council meeting. He recently spoke at a meeting in Aliso Viejo to oppose a proposed resolution banning the LGBTQ+ Pride flag from government buildings. Kluwe highlighted the historical context of the American flag and its associations with oppression, asserting that flying the Pride flag represents a commitment to inclusivity and safety for marginalized communities. His activism demonstrates the ongoing struggle for equality and the necessity of using public platforms for advocacy.
Speaking out isn't a crime yet. I mean, unless you happen to be a university student who's here on a green card. We still have a chance to save our country.
For over 100 years, the American flag stood for slavery, and we had a war to fix that. For 90 years after that, it stood for segregation.
I do not want the American flag to stand for hatred and discrimination, and flying the Pride flag shows people that we understand that.
This is not what America's about. We have a president that is proclaiming executive orders trying to erase trans people from existence.
