New York electronic duo ear announced their sophomore album Rumspringa, releasing May 29 via A24 Music. The duo consists of Yaelle Avtan and Jonah Paz and creates glitchy lo-fi pop influenced by IDM, The Postal Service, and indie-tronic styles. For the second album, they drew inspiration from the Amish tradition of rumspringa, when young adults are allowed to leave the community and engage with the outside world to reflect on religion, culture, and upbringing. The band describes Rumspringa as their “choose life” record. They also previously released the lead single “Ne Plus Ultra,” which can prompt dancing, nostalgic reflection, or curiosity about the future.
