Ye took out a full-page Wall Street Journal advertisement expressing regret for years of antisemitic behavior and for past admiration of Adolf Hitler and swastika imagery. Ye blamed an undiagnosed brain injury from a 2002 car crash and untreated bipolar disorder, saying a four-month manic episode in early 2025 included psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed his life. Ye wrote that he "lost touch with reality," said he is committed to accountability and treatment, and denied being a Nazi or an antisemite. Major platforms banned a 2025 song, Australian travel was denied, and the Anti-Defamation League called the apology overdue.
