Votive (ex-Portrayal of Guilt, Respire) announce new LP, share "Unitary Form"
"'Unitary Form' is a song about working through trauma and self-doubt for such an extended period of time that when you become aware that you're experiencing relief you're not sure if you finally emerged from the hole or simply forgot to be upset,"
"Furthermore, you're now worried that even acknowledging progress could jeopardize everything you've been striving for and you're stuck second guessing yourself and where you truly exist on the path of healing."
"This is an album about stumbling your way through personal growth. This is an album about never being sure of yourself and losing your way. This is an album about going to great lengths to find things you already have and solve problems that don't exist."
Votive are an Austin band featuring current and former members of Portrayal of Guilt, Respire, and Porcelain. An Infinite Capacity For Joy arrives March 13 via Persistent Vision (North America) and Dog Knights, produced by Phillip Odom. The lead single, "Unitary Form," sits between screamo, black metal, and other metal and hardcore offshoots, offering an intense sonic approach. The song grapples with prolonged trauma and self-doubt, uncertain relief, and fear that acknowledging progress might undo recovery. The album as a whole follows a path of stumbling personal growth, chronic uncertainty, and searching for already-possessed answers.
