"There is a guy who I see every day near my house,"
"I always buy him a pack of Newport hundreds, knowing full well that he will trade it for crack. I wonder sometimes if it's the addict in me, enabling the addict in him, or if I just fully understand his struggle. Perhaps we're the same after all."
Richard Phillip Smith directed a music video for 'RL Stine' that stitches hundreds of photos into a montage of city sidewalks, carved tree bark, abandoned items, and blurry live footage of the Philadelphia shoegaze band. Bandleader Doug Dulgarian recounts seeing a man near his house whom he buys cigarettes for, knowing the man trades them for crack, and reflects on enabling, shared addiction, and mutual struggle. 'RL Stine' is the fourth song released from the album Lotto ahead of its October 17 release, following 'American Food,' 'Trainers,' and 'The Chase.' After the LP release the band will begin a North American tour on October 30 in Cleveland and conclude December 12 in Philadelphia.
