The Knife's Olof Dreijer Signs to Dirty Hit, Readies Debut Solo Album
"I was so moved the first time I heard the original version of 'Dafnino,' Maman's voice is so beautiful. I wanted to make it work in my DJ sets, so I made my own version that I felt became more than just a remix so I thought it could be nice to include it on the album. The additional vocals he recorded made it feel very special too."
Olof Dreijer, the Swedish synth-pop artist from the Knife, has signed to Dirty Hit to release his debut solo album 'so' on May 8 through the label's electronic imprint DH2. The album includes six previously released songs spanning the last three years: 'Rosa Rugosa,' 'Cassia,' 'Coral,' 'Acuyuye,' 'Blood Lily,' and 'Iris,' alongside a reworked version of 'Camelia' from his 2023 Rosa Rugosa EP. The new single 'Echoed Dafino' features Sudanese singer Maman. Dreijer recently produced four tracks on his sibling Karin Dreijer's Fever Ray album 'Radical Romantics' and collaborated with Mt. Sims on a steel drum music project.
