Dan Hawkins of the Darkness publicly criticized the VMAs tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on Instagram. The VMAs presented a three-song set featuring Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Yungblud, and Nuno Bettencourt performing "Crazy Train", "Changes", and "Mama, I'm Coming Home", introduced by a video from Jack Osbourne and family. Hawkins posted over footage of Yungblud and Tyler singing "Mama, I'm Coming Home" and Ariana Grande's reaction, writing "Watch a bunch of bellends," followed by a caption denouncing the performance and accusing participants of exploiting the tribute to advance their careers.
