Frontman Robert Smith of The Cure shared that their next album is in progress, featuring songs originally intended for their last release and new material.
Smith mentioned that he has been mixing a new project, which will be a companion piece to "Songs of a Lost World," comprising about ten songs that display more variety.
The upcoming album will include several older unreleased tracks, including the grief-laden "It Can Never Be the Same" and reflective piece "A Boy I Never Knew."
In an exciting announcement, Smith revealed that work has begun on a third album for The Cure, which is also virtually finished, suggesting a busy period ahead.
