Sparta will release their sixth studio album, 'Cut a Silhouette,' on May 29th through Equal Vision and Dine Alone Records. The lead single, 'Crater,' co-written with Frank Iero, combines post-hardcore energy with atmospheric elements. The album follows their previous works, 'Trust the River' and a self-titled album. Frontman Jim Ward describes it as a love record aimed at leaving a lasting impression. The album includes collaborations with various artists and will be supported by an extensive tour across the US and Latin America.
"Ward stated, 'This is a love record. I want it to leave an impression, and at this point in my career, that's what I yearn for. I'm working so hard to make something meaningful to me, and I really want people to get a chance to feel it as well.'"
"'Crater' marries a propulsive post-hardcore emotional catharsis against a somewhat proggy atmospheric backing, resulting in a track that feels epic despite its sub-3 minute runtime."
