Primus Surprise-Release New EP, Including New Song "The Ol' Grizz"
"Primus have surprise-released a new four-song EP titled A Handful of Nuggs that includes the brand-new single "The Ol' Grizz." The track offers a preview of the band's long-awaited new album, which is expected to arrive in 2027. The new EP comes ahead of the previously announced "Claypool Gold Tour," a bill including the three Les Claypool-led projects Primus, the Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The outing kicks off May 20th in Reno, Nevada, with tickets available here."
"The EP is rounded out by a cover of Dio's "Holy Diver" featuring Puddles Pity Party, the aforementioned "Little Lord Fentanyl," and a live version of "Duchess (And the Proverbial Mind Spread)." "The Ol' Grizz" sees the band return to the mutant dark funk-country-metal they pioneered on records like Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda. It contains a classic busy Les Claypool rolling bass line and showcases the Neil Peart-inspired work of new drummer John Hoffman."
"Primus then break into a proggy and atmospheric instrumental bridge to bring elements of their more atmospheric and mature work.
