On 'Tracks II,' Springsteen shares a host of lost albums and a new part of himself
Briefly

Bruce Springsteen has unveiled a collection titled 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums', comprising 83 previously unreleased songs spanning from the 1980s to the 2010s. This anthology showcases a diverse range of musical styles, including synth pop and folk ballads. Several of these tracks were initially recorded in polished forms but were withheld for various reasons. Notably, some songs reflect a quiet intimacy that offers a glimpse into Springsteen's creative evolution and artistic choices over the decades.
At its best, this capacious grab-bag of 83 songs yields not just good music, but songs that seem unlike anything else Springsteen has ever done.
These seven so-called lost albums each represent collections that, at the time of recording, were polished up and ready to go but then were held back for various reasons.
Springsteen felt the sustained downbeat tone might test his audience's patience, so he switched gears, got the E Street Band back in action and went in a different direction.
But it's nice to hear some of these quiet, intimate compositions, such as 'The Little Things,' showcasing a different side of his songwriting.
