Mudvayne Unleash "Hurt People Hurt People," First New Song in 16 Years
"The aggressive track touts an unrelenting barrage of groove riffs and gnarly production that crushes out frontman Chad Gray's vocals with distortion. It's a classic industrial nu-metal treatment, evoking the band's commercial peak in the 2000s. As for the lyrical content, the song expresses a surprisingly positive moral lesson despite the sonic harshness. The first new material from Mudvayne since their 2009 self-titled LP features Gray alongside guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough."
"'Hurt People Hurt People' has probably been around since the beginning of man," said Grayin a press release. "Certainly longer than the phrase ever existed. The endless cycle of projecting our pain onto others. I think I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to break the cycle. We create our own suffering, our own hurt. It's time for us to create self-love and let go of the pain. It was never ours to begin with."
Mudvayne returned with 'Hurt People Hurt People,' their first new song in 16 years. The track delivers an aggressive industrial nu-metal sound driven by unrelenting groove riffs, heavy production and distorted vocals. Lyrically, the song urges breaking the cycle of projecting pain, promoting self-love and letting go of inherited suffering. The recording features Chad Gray, Greg Tribbett, Ryan Martinie, and Matthew McDonough, reuniting the classic lineup. Mudvayne will co-headline a tour with Static-X celebrating the 25th anniversaries of L.D. 50 and Wisconsin Death Trip, beginning September 11 in Dubuque, Iowa.
