Metallica sets residency at Sphere in Las Vegas
"About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in '23, I thought 'We have to do this, it's completely uncharted territory!' This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f- psyched to go next level!"
"The band will continue the "No Repeat Weekends" theme - playing completely different set lists on Thursday and Saturday shows - from its recent M72 stadium tour. The group most recently reissued its pivotal, if divisive, 1996 album "Load" in a gigantic box set last year."
Metallica announces its debut residency at Las Vegas' Sphere venue, titled "Life Burns Faster," scheduled for eight performances across October 2024. The band will perform on October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31, with tickets available starting March 6. Following the success of U2's Sphere residency, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich expressed enthusiasm about utilizing the venue's advanced audio-visual capabilities. The residency will continue the "No Repeat Weekends" concept from the band's recent M72 stadium tour, with completely different setlists performed on Thursday and Saturday shows. The Sphere venue also hosts upcoming residencies from Kenny Chesney, Backstreet Boys, and Carin León.
