Mariah Carey's Taking Us Through Every Season at the VMAs
Briefly

Mariah Carey will receive the MTV Video Music Awards' Video Vanguard Award, the ceremony's highest honor, and will perform a medley of her greatest hits. The Vanguard will mark Carey’s first Moon Person despite her six Grammy Awards, fourteen Billboard Music Awards, and ten American Music Awards. The VMAs will be hosted by LL Cool J and air Sunday, September 7, at 8 p.m. ET. Other scheduled performers include Ricky Martin (winner of the VMAs' first Latin Icon Award), Sabrina Carpenter, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin, Alex Warren, and Sombr. The ceremony highlights Carey joining past Vanguard recipients such as Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.
It's impossible to say you don't know her: the Queen of Christmas is taking over Summer as she'll be receiving the Video Vanguard Award, the highest honor at the MTV VMAs this year. She'll also perform a melody of her greatest hits. This will be the first time Carey will win a Moon Person - a shame truly, but don't feel too bad. Mimi has won 6 Grammy Awards, fourteen Billboard Music Awards, and ten American Music Awards.
There's no bigger honor than topping the charts every December, but maybe sharing a Moon Person with Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Rihanna will do. Hosted by LL Cool J (the same person Carye presented the Vanguard award to in 1997), it'll all go down on Sunday, September 7, at 8 p.m. ET. It will not only be an emancipation of Mimi - Other show-stopping performances of the evening will include Ricky Martin (winner of the VMAs' first Latin Icon Award), Sabrina Carpenter.
