"I was twirling around in love addiction for all those albums,"
"Now, I'm going into my existential era."
"To me, it's samsara in a song,"
"The wheel of life: winning, losing, living, dying. Having had something and praying you'll have it again. Whether it's sex, money, vitality, love. I always said I wanted the Vivaldi song at my wedding or funeral, but I think this is giving more revenge heist energy."
Lykke Li will release a new album titled THE AFTERPARTY on May 8 via Neon Gold Records/Futures. The lead single "Lucky Again" is available now and features a maximalist pop sound with a distinct disco feel. The project signals a shift from earlier love-addiction themes toward an existential era. Li describes "Lucky Again" as samsara, reflecting cycles of winning, losing, longing, and desire for vitality, money, sex, or love. THE AFTERPARTY follows a 2025 EP of minimalist cover songs. Live plans include festival appearances such as Coachella and dates opening for Robyn, with a nine-track album tracklist.
