Ladytron announce new album, share "Kingdom Undersea"
"The album was produced by the band's Daniel Hunt with sessions in Liverpool, São Paulo, Montrose, Dalston, and London, with mixing duties handled by longtime collaborator Jim Abbiss. While always an electronic band, Ladytron have made their most dancefloor-forward album with Paradises. "There's an itch we never scratched," Hunt says, "which is that despite our origins in the DJ world, we never actually made a 'disco' record. Albeit, 'disco' in our context has a somewhat different meaning.""
"The first single from the album is "Kingdom Undersea," which adds a little early-'90s baggy/madchester house to Ladytron's icy sound. It's also a duet between vocalist Helen Marnie and Hunt which hasn't happened much in Ladytron's career. It's an awesome, moody banger, and you can watch the video, filmed in a video installation originally designed for the KLF, below."
Paradises will be released March 20 via Nettwerk. Daniel Hunt produced the album with sessions in Liverpool, São Paulo, Montrose, Dalston, and London; longtime collaborator Jim Abbiss handled mixing. Ladytron adopt a more dancefloor-forward approach on Paradises, incorporating disco-influenced electronic styles alongside their signature icy textures. The lead single "Kingdom Undersea" blends early-'90s baggy/madchester house with the band's sound and features a duet between vocalists Helen Marnie and Daniel Hunt; its video was filmed in a video installation originally designed for the KLF. The album contains sixteen tracks and the band will perform UK dates around the release.
