John Ashton, who portrayed Sergeant John Taggart in the Beverly Hills Cop series, has died at 76 from cancer, as confirmed by his manager.
Ashton first starred in Beverly Hills Cop in 1984 as Sergeant John Taggart, an important role that contributed to his long-standing career in law enforcement-themed roles.
"Going back to this one was like a family reunion," Ashton said of returning for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, highlighting the strong bonds with his co-stars.
His portrayal in the franchise was memorable, showing the evolution of his character's relationship with Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley from conflict to camaraderie.
