McRae's album, I Don't Know How, juxtaposes buoyant anthems with weightier themes of heartbreak. Songs like "Let Me Be Wrong" resonate with the struggles of Type A personalities. Jensen expertly blends personal and universal elements in her storytelling, using scene-setting to bring her lyrics to life. Her vocal delivery varies, conveying emotion and coherence, though occasionally, the heaviness of the lyrics can be dense, as seen in the ballad "Tuesday." Overall, the album balances bright pop elements with introspective themes of love and loss.
It's impossible to get lost on I Don't Know How, because Jensen is always dropping a pin: She's speeding down Sunset Boulevard, on a flight to Georgia, in a bachelor pad in Shoreditch.
At the same time, she cheekily uses details to signpost something more universal, showing that the wayward subject of "I Can Change Him" wears cheap cologne and hand rolls his cigarettes.
