""We have never guessed the winner," said Dale Robards. "You might think you know how things will go, but it's not that easy.""
""We love the festival atmosphere here at BISQC," said Robards. "It allows us to immerse ourselves into this form of music. We have met a lot of people and increased our network. It's a great experience to be in this gorgeous place with a lot of smart music lovers.""
The Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC) occurs every three years at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and awards C$500,000 in prize money, touring, recording, mentoring, and management opportunities. BISQC has run since 1983 and attracts conservatory-trained quartets under age 35 pursuing chamber-music careers. The 15th event featured nine ensembles from France, Germany, Austria, South Korea, Hong Kong, and the United States and ran August 24–31. The festival format fosters immersion in chamber music, networking, and audience engagement. Organized tour packages provided travel, lodging, meals, tickets, and a reception for Friends of Chamber Music members.
