Hollywood Bowl Names Stage After John Williams
""Without John Williams, bikes don't really fly, nor do brooms in Quidditch matches, nor do men in red capes,""
""There is no Force, dinosaurs do not walk the Earth. We do not wonder, we do not weep, we do not believe.""
""I want to thank all of the donors in this effort, who proudly support and salute the work done by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, one of the great orchestras of the world,""
""The uniqueness of this honor is certainly unheard of and I thank all of you.""
The Hollywood Bowl stage has been named for composer John Williams, the first time in the venue's 103-year history that the stage has been named after an artist. The Los Angeles Philharmonic unveiled new stage signage at a private ceremony attended by donors including Steven Spielberg, the Hearthland Foundation, Seth MacFarlane, and the Katie McGrath and J.J. Abrams Family Foundation. Spielberg credited Williams's music with creating cinematic wonder, saying that without his scores iconic elements such as flying bicycles, dinosaurs, and the Force would not resonate. Williams thanked the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its donors for their unprecedented generosity and called the honor unheard of.
