Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are both starring in the film, reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman from the first movie.

Nisha Ganatra is directing the movie. She previously directed The High Note, Late Night, and episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The sequel's script was completed in May 2023, before the writers' strike, and Anna's pop punk band Pink Slip is involved.
