"Vladimir, who is now 40, chose Dublin because he had a cousin living in the city, but he soon found himself short of money with his second month's rent due. He began busking on Grafton Street and was so good. He soon won legions of fans and made enough to cover the bills. He also rediscovered his passion for music and performing in the process. His live performances now sell out all over the country,"
""When I was busking, I used to see homeless people living on the streets and I realised how fortunate I was not to end up in that position," the father of four said. "I arrived here with no money and nowhere to stay and I couldn't speak English. I have now made my home here for the past 21 years and am married to Nicola, and I am so grateful that my life turned out the way it did.""
"From these humble beginnings, Vladimir is returning to the 3Arena on December 6 and 7 for the fourth year in a row with his spectacular Christmas show, Vladimir's Family Christmas. His mum, Katarina and siblings Andrej, Viktor, Anton and Olga will come from different countries to perform at the concert. Vladimir's dad, Alexander, used to perform with him as well, but he passed away in 2021, aged 66. His wife Nicola and their daughters Anna (9) and Nina (7) will also perform on the 3Arena"
Vladimir Jablokov left music college in Slovakia because he disliked regimented classical training and moved to Dublin in 2004. He arrived penniless, unable to speak English, and initially left his father, a violin professor, disappointed. Short of money, he began busking on Grafton Street, quickly attracting fans and earning enough to pay rent while rediscovering his passion for performance. He fuses classical music with gypsy, folk and popular styles, filling venues nationwide. He settled in Ireland, married Nicola, and has children. He returns to the 3Arena for two Christmas concerts with family members performing; his father died in 2021.
