Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble is presenting 'Another Dialogue,' exploring how music and layered dialogue reveal deeper personal histories within everyday interactions. Directed by Jacob Coleman, the production aims to unveil the psychological undercurrents in daily life. The show takes place at PICA from April 25-27, alongside the premiere of Elliot Lorenc's 'The Ballad of Iron Jo,' emphasizing community through its musical elements. Conversations with Coleman and Lorenc underscore their creative processes in developing these unique theatrical experiences.
To me, one of the interests of the piece is we go about our day, we talk to each other, we make dinner, we go grocery shopping. We do all the sort of everyday things just to get by.
There are things happening in our psyches and in our souls - the bigger undercurrents of our lives. These are the things that only happen in the quiet insides of ourselves that are based on our personal histories or traumas.
