Donald Glover reveals he had a stroke on Childish Gambino tour in 2024
"I was doing this world tour, he said. I was having lots of fun, really loving seeing you guys out there. I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana and I did the show anyway. I couldn't really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, You had a stroke.'"
"They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realise you have one, Glover said. You got one life, guys, and I gotta be honest, the life I've lived with you guys has been such a blessing."
"Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected."
Donald Glover suffered a stroke last year that forced cancellation of his remaining world tour dates. The medical episode followed a performance in New Orleans and required hospital treatment and surgery in Houston. Doctors also found a hole in his heart that necessitated two surgeries, and he had previously broken a foot. These health issues prompted postponement and eventual cancellation of all remaining US, UK, European and Australian dates of the planned farewell tour. He reflected on mortality and gratitude toward fans. The Childish Gambino stage name has been retired after release of final album Bando Stone & the New World.
