DEVO and The B-52s to Kick Off "Cosmic De-Evolution Tour"
"DEVO and The B-52s are set to kick off their "Cosmic De-Evolution Tour" on Wednesday, September 24th, marking the first time the two pioneering alternative rock acts have ever hit the road together. After the bands launch the tour on Wednesday at Toronto's Budweiser Stage, they'll make stops in cities including Clarkston, Michigan, Mansfield, MA, Los Angeles, CA, Charlotte, NC, Alpharetta, GA, Austin, TX, and more through early November."
"Both bands are fronted by three original members, and are in the midst of what they have said are their farewell tours. The inspired pairing was conceived when both DEVO and The B-52s performed at SNL 's 50th anniversary celebration earlier this year, with Fred Armisen on drums for each group (Jeff Friedl will man the kit for DEVO on the tour). "When both of our bands performed at the recent SNL50 concert at Radio City, we started talking and agreed we had to do these shows," The B-52s' Cindy Wilson said in a press statement. "Believe or not, we've never done more than a festival or two together in all this time. This will be amazing and I can't wait for The B-52s to share these stages with Devo!""
""The B-52s had one of the best sounds of any of the bands out there in the late '70s early '80s," added DEVO's Mark Mothersbaugh. "It was either fate or luck or the SNL anniversary that brought us all together to create this amazing chance to go out on tour. All I can say is Cosmic Devolution is REAL!""
DEVO and The B-52s will launch the Cosmic De-Evolution Tour on Wednesday, September 24 at Toronto's Budweiser Stage, marking the first full tour together. The itinerary includes stops in Clarkston, Michigan; Mansfield, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; Charlotte, North Carolina; Alpharetta, Georgia; Austin, Texas; and additional cities through early November. DEVO will appear at the Oceans Calling 2025 festival in Ocean City, Maryland, on September 28. Both bands are fronted by three original members and are conducting farewell tours. The pairing originated after joint performances at SNL's 50th anniversary, with Jeff Friedl joining DEVO on drums for the tour.
