Del Water Gap on His New Album, Tour, and Evolution of 'Horse With Bowl Cut'
"S. Holden Jaffe, the musician otherwise known by his stage name, Del Water Gap, has a busy few months ahead of him. He released his latest album, Chasing the Chimera, in November of last year. And in the middle of January he's kicking off a tour that'll take him from Raleigh, North Carolina, all the way to Copenhagen, Denmarkwith a big chunk of the U.S., Canada, UK, and Europe in between."
"But he's optimistic about the next one. He's been running. Meditating. I'm feeling good and getting better at taking care of myself, he says. And I have a really good team around me, too. You end up living with these people that you travel with and work with as a musician; you wake up next to them every day. So we finally have a really good crew together, and I'm going to be with them for three months, and I'm feeling good about that."
"This friend, an illustrator, was sketching scenes from the shop. He asked Jaffe if he drew. And I was like, "Yeah, no, I'm a great artist," you know, sort of jokingly because I'm not a great visual artist, Jaffe says. And on a napkin, I drew this little character that was a horse with a bowl cut standing by a lake."
S. Holden Jaffe, known as Del Water Gap, released the album Chasing the Chimera in November and will begin a multi-month international tour from Raleigh to Copenhagen. The upcoming tour spans the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe and will last roughly three months. Jaffe reported that his previous tour left him drained, and he has since focused on running, meditation, and better self-care. He assembled a consistent touring crew and feels optimistic about traveling with them. A Horse With Bowl Cut character inspired by a napkin drawing at The Hungarian Pastry Shop debuts as jewelry in collaboration with Catbird.
