Cleto Escobedo III, leader of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! house band Cleto and the Cletones, died Tuesday morning at age 59. Jimmy Kimmel announced the death on social media and described Escobedo as a longtime friend and bandleader who had been inseparable from him since childhood. Escobedo had led the show's house band since the program began in 2003 and co-wrote the show's theme song with Les Pierce and Jonathan Kimmel. His father, Cleto Escobedo Jr., was also a member of the band. Escobedo performed with artists including Paula Abdul and Marc Anthony. Condolences were expressed to his family and bandmates.
