Charlotte Adigery collaborator Bolis Pupul announces new solo album, shares "Completely Half"
Briefly

Bolis Pupul's new album, 'Letter To Yu,' is a tribute to his Hong Kong-born mother, who passed away in a traffic accident in 2008. The album was made in collaboration with Stephen & David Dewaele of Soulwax at the DEEWEE Studios in Ghent. Bolis explained that reconnecting with his roots was important to him and led him to learn Chinese: 'When I started to think about my roots, I started to embrace them. And it became more and more important for me to get in touch with them...I went to evening school and began learning Chinese. That was the first step.' The album was also inspired by Bolis' first visit to Hong Kong in 2018, where he visited the street where his mother was born and wrote a letter to her, which became the centerpiece of the record: 'Letter To Yu is an homage to my mother, my grandparents, and Hong Kong'.
