Bruce Springsteen has released the song "Adelita" from his upcoming collection, Tracks II: The Lost Albums, which features the long-shelved record Inyo. Recorded in the 1990s, Inyo was meant to follow The Ghost of Tom Joad, exploring themes at the Californian and Texan borders. Springsteen describes the context of his work, rooted in the constant news about the border during that time. Notably, Inyo includes contributions from mariachi musicians, blending different musical influences in this previously unreleased project, set to be launched on June 27.
"During the period when I recorded Inyo, there was constant border reporting... It was a big part of your life," Springsteen reflects on the cultural context of his work.
"Inyo was a record I wrote in California during long drives... I was enjoying that kind of writing so much," Springsteen shares about the inspiration behind his shelved album.
