""It's time for Part Three of my lengthy musical career! I can write songs forever and wait until you hear what's coming!!! As my major talent beyond singing is songwriting, now is the time to get serious again. In addition, I'm currently working on developing a speaking-engagement chapter of my career-inspired in part by Cary Grant, who long ago made a similar move after his movie career.""
"Bruce Johnston has been with the California-born American rock band since April 1965, when he began filling in for founding member Brian Wilson during live performances. That same year, Johnston contributed his first vocals to one of the Beach Boys' studio recording on "California Girls." Eventually, the band asked him to become a permanent member."
Bruce Johnston, who joined the Beach Boys in April 1965 as a replacement for Brian Wilson during live performances, is departing from the touring band after more than 60 years. Johnston contributed vocals to "California Girls" in 1965 and eventually became a permanent member, earning writing credits on numerous hits including "Wild Honey," "Surf's Up," and "Pet Sounds." After a temporary dismissal in 1972, he rejoined in 1978 to produce the album L.A. (Light Album). Johnston now plans to pursue songwriting and develop a speaking-engagement career inspired by Cary Grant's career transition, with assistance from John Stamos. Mike Love remains the only original Beach Boys member in the touring lineup.
