In 1966, Stewart Brand initiated a campaign to urge NASA to create a whole-Earth photograph, challenging the status quo of public awareness about our planet. He successfully prompted NASA's release of such an image in 1967, which became a pivotal moment for environmental consciousness. This photo, alongside the famous Earthrise taken by astronaut Bill Anders, was instrumental in launching the environmental movement, leading to events like Earth Day.
