"I always used to imagine my songs as mini films, but with this EP I wanted to explore a narrative which could exist throughout all the songs.""
"The Perfume Genius collab, a cover of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's "I See a Darkness," was released back in October, and Anna has just shared "God's Lonely Man" which is a duet Iggy Pop; their voices sound great together on this dark and glammy track. "He's disruptive, raw, and honest - a singular force," Anna says. "His presence was so perfect for the narrative of this song.""
Anna Calvi announced an EP, Is This All There Is?, due March 20 via Domino. The four-song EP consists entirely of collaborations with Iggy Pop, Perfume Genius, Laurie Anderson, and Matt Berninger. Becoming a mother influenced the EP, as did Calvi's scoring work on the final two seasons of Peaky Blinders, which altered how she creates music. Calvi previously imagined songs as mini films, and the new EP explores a continuous narrative across tracks. The Perfume Genius collaboration is a cover of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's "I See a Darkness" released in October. "God's Lonely Man" is a dark, glammy duet with Iggy Pop; accompanying videos are available.
