Adam Jones and Maynard James Keenan Address Plans for Next Tool Album
""We want to get another record out and play, do what we do," the guitarist said. "The three of us [myself, drummer Danny Carey, and bassist Justin Chancellor] have been jamming. I don't know if you go, 'Oh, the writing process has started.' It's always there. Between preparing for an upcoming tour or whatever we're doing, there's points where someone goes, 'Oh, I got this and I got this.' But I think we're going to dive deep soon.""
""I'll probably bug those guys again about trying to turn that into a future Tool song," Jones said. "I've got lots of riffs, we put them together, tear them apart and try to make something that we're all into.""
"At the time, Chancellor said that he and his bandmates would be dedicating "the next three months" to organizing their ideas in the studio - more than likely the "jamming" Jones was referring to - and that the band already had a "really good pile of stuff.""
Adam Jones, Maynard James Keenan, Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey have been jamming and organizing material as they prepare a follow-up to 2019's Fear Inoculum. The three instrumentalists have been trading riffs in the studio and plan to "dive deep" into songwriting soon. Jones said he has many riffs, including one that sounded Black Sabbath-like, which they may develop into a Tool song. Chancellor indicated the band will spend "the next three months" organizing ideas and that they already have a "really good pile of stuff." Live commitments continue through 2025, including Hawaii dates in December.
