San Francisco marks the 50th anniversary of the first giant public menorah outside Israel with an eight-night Union Square festival December 14–22, 2025. The festival features nightly menorah lightings, musical performances, children's crafts, community gatherings, and special ceremonies honoring civic leaders and families. Events include a Bill Graham Menorah Day with performances by the Bill Graham All Stars and a lighting honoring Mayor Daniel Lurie and other dignitaries. Other nights honor families, the SFPD, and the Russian Jewish–speaking community, and include parties, a Thrive City event, YJP Chanukah LUX, a menorah car parade, and RSVP-required activities.
