YouTube is planning a significant redesign of its TV app, making it resemble Netflix by integrating paid content directly onto the homepage. This change, expected to roll out in the coming months, aims to enhance user navigation and streamline access to shows from third-party services like Paramount Plus and Max, which have been somewhat hidden under the Movies and TV tab. Additionally, the update will allow creators to organize videos into seasons and auto-play previews, aiming for a more cohesive viewing experience for users.
"The vision is that when you come to our [TV] app and you're looking for a show, it'll just blend away whether that show is from a Primetime Channel or that show is from a creator," Kurt Wilms, YouTube's senior director of product management, told The Information.
YouTube's redesign will reportedly display paid content from streaming services on the homepage, making it easier for users to find shows and movies.
