Xiaomi has launched the highly anticipated PU7 electric SUV, a direct challenge to Tesla's Model Y in China's evolving EV sector. The PU7 boasts an impressive range of 518 miles and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.23 seconds. Following the success of its predecessor, the SU7, which exceeded 200,000 sales since March 2024, the PU7 is set to be available for reservations in July. Xiaomi's founder has made it clear that the goal is to dethrone Tesla's dominance in this critical market, emphasizing range as a primary factor for EV buyers.
The PU7 comes on the heels of the SU7, which has been a huge success for Xiaomi since deliveries began in March 2024, having sold over 200,000 units.
Xiaomi's founder, CEO Lei Jun, highlighted that range is the number one consideration for EV buyers, leading to the development of the PU7 with impressive mileage.
