These 2 cooking games look similar. Is it cultural erasure, an homage or straight up theft? | CBC News
Briefly

Abhi Swaminathan, the founder of Visai Games, found similarities between the mobile cooking game Sofra and his narrative game Venba. He accused Sofra of copying assets and stripping away significant narrative elements like themes of racism, love, and family present in Venba. Sofra focuses on simple tasks without a compelling story. Despite fan outrage and similarities, Swaminathan chose not to pursue legal action against Sofra's developers due to their European base and the frequent nature of such similarities in games.
Abhi Swaminathan, founder of Visai Games, noted that the assets in Sofra were "pretty one-to-one" to those in Venba, which he views as a blatant copy.
Sofra is a cooking simulation game that removes narrative elements, focusing instead on preparing simple dishes, contrasting sharply with Venba's storytelling.
Visai Games accused Sofra of being a "rip-off" for excluding important themes such as racism and cultural identity that are present in Venba.
Despite the similarities, Swaminathan chose not to pursue legal action, citing the impracticality of tackling international companies and the commonality of similar game elements.
